HUNTINGTON BEACH SCHOOLS PHOTO, ADDRESSES AND INFORMATION

Huntington Beach High School (pictured) features Lap Swimming for public

Huntington Beach has over 50 schools serving a diverse student population with varied needs. From advanced learning programs to learning disabled education, mainstreaming policies, private religious entities and schools and programs geared toward arts and entertainment, Huntington Beach parents enjoy a variety of choices to fit academic criteria they seek, catered to their loved ones.

Huntington Beach schools consistently rank above average in academic scores for California and include many award winning schools and programs recognized for excellence in teaching and in learning.  Focus in Huntington Beach is on providing a rounded education to prepare each individual for a career that suits his or her needs best.

Sports programs in the schools are varied and reflect the local environment of surf and sand. Some schools offer surfing classes and surf teams that meet early in the morning or after classes. The local surf teams are often taught by world class surfers and many of the youth graduating become known throughout the world for their skills. Surfing, soccer, softball, football, tennis, swimming, water polo and other sports and academic pursuits in a year-round mild climate make Huntington Beach a privileged place. Students, teachers, faculty and staff enjoy the fine weather and rarely experience closures due to weather conditions. Pictured above is the historic Huntington Beach High School on Main Street. The photo was taken in mid-November with temperatures in the 70s.

For information on the public school system, you can call the numbers below. There are several school districts delineated by the geographic region you reside in. The schools do offer open school policy for enrolling at other locations on a space available basis so you need to call the district to obtain information about dates to enroll.

Four school districts serving Huntington Beach's elementary and middle school students include Huntington Beach City School District, Ocean View School District, Fountain Valley School District and Westminster School District. Several schools within the district have been honored recently as National Blue Ribbon Schools. The public school system uses a standards-based classroom model in which success is measured by test score results in reading, math and language. Huntington Beach City School District
