Huntington Beach Christmas Parade

Main Street Holiday Celebration  The annual Main Street Holiday Celebration, now enjoying its tenth anniversary, will be held in downtown Huntington Beach on Sunday.  Beginning at 3 p.m., local restaurants will open their doors for "A Taste of Main Street," featuring specialty soups, chowders and desserts, as well as a raffle for opportunity prizes. A community parade begins at 4:30 p.m. on Main Street at Orange Street and heads toward the Huntington Beach Pier. The parade stars Surf City Santa Claus and his wife, Mrs. Claus; HB's Mayor, Miss Huntington Beach and her court; cars from the Southern California Woodie Club; Brownies, Cub Scouts and Camp Fire Troops; Polynesian dancers; and a group of Bernese Mountain dogs are part of the merriment in the truly old-fashioned home town event. "Light a Light of Love," the pier lighting ceremony at 4:45 p.m. followed by the band performing at Pier Plaza, then Orange County Song and Dance Company. At 6 p.m., the Huntington Beach Pier and Main Street will light up with flick of a switch, turning on illuminated snowflakes sponsored by local merchants and businesses. Proceeds will benefit the CSP Huntington Beach Youth Shelter.

Huntington Beach Main Street and Downtown HB have added a new element to the holiday celebrations since 2010 when a Dekralite (artificial) Christmas tree was installed at the water fountain plaza near the City owned garage on 200 Main Street. The tree is in front of Rocky Mt. Chocolate store.

A tree lighting ceremony launches the holiday season in November, and the Light a Light of Love Pier Lighting and Parade continues its annual tradition the first weekend in December.
