Downtown
Huntington Beach Business Association comprised of shops, stores and
services along Main Street and an approximate half mile radius, invite you
to visit the heart of Huntington Beach to enjoy dining, shopping and
services ranging from banking to hair salons & barber shops.
Exciting new developments
make Downtown Huntington Beach the best place to shop. While enjoying fresh,
ocean air and scenic beaches, you can buy clothes, go to the bank, mail a
package, wash your dog, send flowers and dine at dozens of restaurants, ice
cream stores and candy shops all within a few blocks. In addition to over
100 retail stores and restaurants with live bands and DJ's at night, there
are special special events, free concerts, and Farmer's Market each Friday.
What's new! Downtown Business Improvement District (BID) Members' Plan for
Closing Main Street was recently adopted at a Huntington Beach City Council
meeting after Steve Daniel and the Downtown BID committee presented a
petition to council members with over 100 downtown business members'
signatures requesting Main Street remain open to vehicle traffic, except for
special occasions. Beginning in March 2007 a temporary closure of Main
Street each Tuesday for 12 consecutive weeks will feature entertainment and
special offers. The city will close the first several blocks of Main Street
from 3 to 10 p.m. each Tuesday beginning March 6 through May 22, 2007. This
weekly event may include two hours of free parking (in the city-owned garage
on Main Street with entrances on Orange or Olive), a farmers market, street
performances by local bands and family activities. Main Street will also
close to automobiles for five weekends to coincide with special events such
as an annual Woody car show in March; a May fest May 11 to 13 to coincide
with a Mother's Day concert at Pier Plaza; Surf & Art Walk in September tied
to the City of Huntington Beach annual surfing contest; Patriots weekend
with a proposed air show in October; and holiday lighting of Main Street and
Huntington Beach Pier. While Main Street is
additionally closed for special, one-day events such as the Huntington Beach
4th of July Parade and Downtown BID's Trick or Treat on Main Street held
Oct. 31, those events will occur mid-week in 2007.
