Bank of the West US Open Beach Games Return to Surf City USA ...MORE / Surfers competing

2005 marks the first year that all ASP sanctioned WQS 6* (six star) events, including the Honda Men's US Open of Surfing presented by O"Neill, must adopt a man-on-man competition format. In addition to the heat format change, an additional 5 minutes have been added to each heat which means that each heat will last 25 minutes.

In order to adapt to the heat format and time changes, the men's surf event has added an additional day of competition. The Men's trials will take place Saturday July 23rd - 24th and the main event will start with the round of 192 on Monday July 25th and conclude with the finals on Sunday, July 31st. The man on man format will begin with the quarter finals and on.
