Bud Light Beach Sponsors Huntington Beach City Event and Surf City Days

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIF.--On September 14 'you opt out of the Wet Electric Rave with all its decadence--beer, beaches, booze, bikinis--and saddle up to the beach for a family-fun day at Surf City Days event, kids in tow. Maybe your family is entered in the City of Huntington Beach Surf Contest, Sandcastle Contest, Stand Up Paddle and other contests and fun. You pop open your cooler filled with Bud Light and begin sipping to quench that thirst--NOT SO FAST! 'We all know beer isn't allowed on Huntington Beaches, right'

The promotional flyer for Surf City Days lists "Bud Light Beach" as a sponsor. What exactly is that' We looked to see if there is such a product and couldn't find one. However, we did see Bud Light beer is using social media campaigns and sponsorship to align itself with niche markets and special audiences just like it has always done. Nothing new.

But what's new is a climate in which public organizations in Huntington Beach are concerned about kids and drugs (including alcohol and nicotine,) after students from 'Huntington Beach High School spoke publicly about the drug death of at least one student.

Should a city sponsored event include alcohol sponsors' 'The city has the highest concentration of bars in the state already, and maybe beer is just a natural part of living. Kids in Italy grow up drinking wine at a young age and always have, so what's the big deal with liquor sponsors'

Several citizens have voiced concerns over this beer sponsorship of an event that includes kids well under drinking age. What do you think' Is it OK to have beer sponsors 'for city events'.
