Shorebeak Hotel with Pier & Ocean Views in Downtown Huntington Beach, Calif.

The Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach is framed by the San Bernardino mountains where guests can drive and be skiing in the winter, or enjoying lake activities in the pine forests just 2 hours from the beaches. Shorebreak is the newest hotel, built by the highly successful CIM Group known for their high-end construction and property management projects around the globe. They constructed the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood where the Academy Awards are held, and renovated the connecting Renaissance Hollywood & Highland hotel.

Shorebreak Hotel in Downtown "HB" stands in contrast to the more conservative hotels down the road--the Hilton Waterfront Resort and the Hyatt Regency Resort & Spa. The decor in the Shorebreak, which only occupies the 2nd & 3rd stories (bottom floor contains shopping and lobby entrance) is vibrant, trendy and quite contemporary. It ties the surf and beach themes into the hotel spaces so that you're never far from excitement, even when you're sitting in your hotel room.

The priciest rooms overlook the Pacific Ocean and Huntington Beach Pier, of course, with other rooms offering courtyard or views of the rooftops and surrounding neighborhoods. The 2nd floor features the main check-in lobby, accessible by an elevator or set of stairs, and this is where you can veer toward your room, or head over to the dining and bar area that features breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktails.

FOOD - The food prices in the hotel's Zimzala restaurant are a little higher than some surrounding cafes on the streets below, so you'll be glad to know you can head out the door in the morning and walk 1 1/2 blocks to Starbucks Coffee, or go right across the street from the hotel to grab Sertinos cofeee and the new French baguettes in the next door shop. Most restaurants feature outdoor tables where you can sit next to your dog, to keep an eye on him or her. It's really great for pet owners!

Dining downtown is never more than 3-4 blocks from the hotel, though it's generally only a block or two tops. The cafes are indoor & outdoor cafes featuring breakfast in places such as IHOP or Sugar Shack, lunch--Mexican, Wahoo's Fish Tacos, Thai, Vegetarian--and more. And then for fine dining many like to eat next to Huntington Beach Pier at Duke's, where you can come casual (shirt & shoes required), and sample fish, chicken, salads and other entrees, along with cocktails, famous ocean sunsets and unforgettable Hula Mud Pie.

DOG FRIENDLY HOTEL - Shorebreak Hotel accepts pets and features a little outdoor patio with a potty area for pets. This is important to know about, as the beach across the street doesn't allow pets. Dog Beach is on Pacific Coast Highway approx. 1 mile from the hotel, accessible by car or by walking your pet. There's ample green lawn surrounding the hotel on the public greenbelts on Pacific Coast Highway, so you need only take your dog across the street for a walk. Cleanup is the rule, but you'll find plenty of dispensers. If you have worries, ask the hotel front desk if they can help you out.

BONFIRES AT BEACH - Step out of the hotel, walk across the street to the beach, turn left on the beach path and walk approx. 4 blocks to the fire rings. Though beach concessions sell fire wood, check with your hotel. There may be firewood sold at CVS in the hotel structure. Bicycle rentals, skate rentals and even surfboard lessons are just across the street from the hotel. It is so convenient, you won't believe it!
