 BID Meeting Minutes

03/24/09

 

Present: Susie, Bill, Connie, Stephanie, Steve, Aaron, Michael, Lee & Nicole
Absent: Tom

I. Open Meeting-2:08 Susie opened the meeting

  • Everyone welcomed Nicole Topor aboard as the new BID Secretary

  • Shirley Dettloff from the Boys & Girls Club gave a presentation regarding a major project called 6.37. The project is to raise $6 mil to build a new center at GWC.

  • Ron suggested a street closure during the 10,000 boards in the Sand Project September 11-13.


II. Approval of Meeting Minutes- Lee motioned to approve the minutes from 02/17/09 meeting & Bill seconded them.

III. Financial Report- Stephanie reported there was $59,000. in the bank & $65,000. in assessments. SCN brought in $3,600. for the month of February but the expenditures are getting higher

IV. Old Business

A. Maintenance Partnership Concept Update- Bill reported that the Memorandum of Understanding between the City of HB & the Downtown BID has been termed to the legalese. A lot of the items in the Memorandum he does not agree with but spoke to Nova and she said they were changing some items in there. He also reported that the city has drastically changed the zoning. The city plans to have this Memorandum in front of city council by their May meeting. Uncertain if the BID needs to vote this subject in' The map ran up to 6th Street but it should be changed it up to Pecan. Bill asked that the board write their name on comments on the map & drop it off to his office. The city increased services but did not increase money. $162,000.00 is currently the cost of pressure washing. Bill priced pressure washing at $80k & $60k on porters leaving $22k for extra porters on Tuesday nights & possible more street closures.
B. New BID Logo- Stephanie passed out a copy of the new logo. It was in black & white so the board was inquiring the colors
C. Chili @ the Beach- Lee reported 7 restaurants confirmed: Duke's, Gallagher's, Longboards, No Ka Oi, Sharkeez, Kristi's Catering, and the HBFD. Nine probably but only 15 maximum contestants. Deadline for BID members to confirm a space is April 16th. Michael reported that Sunday entertainment is a go & 40 bikes will be there too.
D. Downtown Property Owner Update- Susie reported is still trying to get the list of property owners through the city to do mailers & to list vacancies on BID website.
E. BID Office Equipment- Connie reported she still needs a file cabinet and a phone. Aaron said he has an extra filing cabinet that he can have delivered to the office.
F. Stakeholders Meeting- Connie reported she had a handful of rsvps and CIN had just rsvp'd before she left for the meeting.

 

V. New Business

A. Public Hearing March 25th 1:30 Room B-8-Conditional Use Permit for a commercial 620 Sq foot, single story building located on the southerly portion of Platform No. 1 on the municipal Pier.
