Huntington Beach 4th of July Parade Photo of Clowns and Schedule of Events

Fourth of July Independence Day Parade in Huntington Beach is considered the largest west of the Mississippi. In 2004, the largest over-the-water fireworks extravaganza on the West Coast lit up the Pacific Ocean waters of Huntington Beach. The parade's many rich traditions include shows, bands and celebrities riding on vehicles along main street for over 100 years. Early parade celebrations featured vaudeville shows, airplane races and bathing beauty contests. Celebrities riding the parade route throughout the years have included Robert Wagner, Natalie Wood, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Dorothy Lamour, Glenn Martin, Mickey and Minnie Mouse and a host of famous people from astronaut to athletes.

It's not a parade if you don't have some clowns. These patriotic characters enjoy driving a car in the Main Street parade route that begins at Pacific Coast Highway and ends at Garfield. The parade is the largest such event west of the Mississippi. It attracts approximately 250,000 people to the beach and downtown. Afterwards, people spend the day enjoying beautiful weather and events that continue throughout the day. Up to 500,000 people attend the Huntington Beach 4th of July Parade events.

From Boy Scouts playing in a band, to men riding tiny bicycles, the 4th of July Parade brings out the fun in people of all ages. There are children waving American flags until the sticks on the flags break, there are pretty girls on floats, handsome couples promoting a cause, not one, but two Abraham Lincoln actors, bands, bands and more bands to keep the lively step along the Main Street parade route. Equestrian units, space ships, Indian guides, people gathering at a house and thousands standing and watching along the sidewalks and lawns.  This parade belongs to the people and they enjoy it more and more each year.  It is old fashioned with music, marching, floats and people riding in historic or classic cars. Best of all, it is absolute free. For over 100 years the parade has brought joy to the hearts of residents (locals) and tourists from around the globe.
