Huntington Beach Art and Sculpture
CRAZY FOR DUKE
|
|
|
..
In
front of Huntington Surf and Sport shop's
stands a tribute to Duke Kahanamoku. You can find
this statue across the street from the
Huntington Beach Pier, on the corner of Main
Street and Pacific Coast Highway.
The bronze statue was designed and created
by Edmond Shumpert who built Ultimate
Challenge, a bronze sculpture of a surfer
riding a wave in Huntington Beach. The new
Duke statue is the most popular spot for
photo "ops" opportunities currently. Take
your camera and get a picture of yourself
and your family with Duke, the Father of
Surfing.

Huntington Beach Art Center is a
public/private partnership between the City of
Huntington Beach and the Huntington Beach Art Center
Foundation, a private non-profit foundation. Housed
in a former GTE office building in the heart of
downtown Huntington Beach, the 11,000 square foot HB
Art Center has three galleries, a multipurpose room,
commercial kitchen, studio and store.
