HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIF.--One of the most fun aspects of the
annual US Open of Surfing & Beach Games in Huntington Beach is
the structure that's built with metal stands. Geometric
structures and designs create a techno environment, softened
with blue see-through panels, colorful flags waving in the beach
wind, and the wooden board walk thrown down for easier walking
in the sand during this event where up to 500,000 people attend
and the sand begins to fill the sky with clouds of dust.
The picture above shows the event being set up, which is why it
isn't crowded like in other pictures where the beach is packed.
IF you go: The top visited days are the final four days of the
event that culminate in Saturday and Sunday massive crowds not
long after 10 a.m. For best parking, get there around 8:30 a.m.
What to take: Take sunblock, cell phone to contact friend lest
you loose them, and a little money to buy some food & drink
nearby.
