Jill Weiss and Jeff Michaels Story

Jill Weiss and Jeff Michaels are a fairly new HB family, having been here only two and a half years. Jill's sister came to HB five years ago from Chicago with their elderly parents. Jeff came here to pursue his goals as a writer. Jill has experience is the world of construction, but her main task is to be Jeff's editor and keep him in line and writing!

Jeff has been writing, as he calls it, 'seriously' for just a few years. He is working on his 'big novel', which started as a short story Christmas gift for Jill. But, as Jeff said, 'the characters wouldn't shut up.' So they evolved into a novel.

HB is a great place to focus on writing, according to Jeff. There are plenty of resources, including compelling subjects and available writers' groups and conferences.

Jill and Jeff like to walk on the pier and along the ocean. They have an interest in rocks and surfing. Jeff was on the board of the Surf Museum and feels particularly connected to the surf culture.

Other HB attractions for Jill and Jeff include the 4th of July Parade, Tuesday nights downtown, and the Aloha Grill. As a writer, Jeff makes use of the great HB library. And as a proud HB resident, the library is a primary location for him to take visitors.
