Nesheiwat Family Story

Talking to Akram Nesheiwat and his wife Hiam is not just talking Huntington Beach history, it is talking history of the nation of Jordan . They have lived in HB for 29 years. Akram left Jordan for New York in 1973. He later came to HB to visit relatives and liked the weather, so he stayed.

While today Akram has family all over the world, his family history can be traced back 600 years in Jordan . His heritage goes back to the Byzantine Empire. His grandfather was held hostage by the Ottoman Empire.

Akram and Hiam, along with one and a half year old grandchild Micah, enjoy Tuesday nights in downtown HB. They also enjoy going to the beach as well as taking visitors there. Among the aspects of HB that they have found so attractive over the years are how close they are to schools and colleges, Disneyland and airports. They also feel that HB has very friendly people.

Akram and Hiam have two grown sons, one in Mission Viejo and the other in Colorado . When their sons were in school, they often volunteered to help with school activities. Currently they participate in their church.
