Legg Family Story

Jennifer and John Legg remember the exact moment they decided to make Surf City, USA their home. 'We were driving down PCH, and right around 'Dog Beach,' we saw a pod of dolphins playing in the ocean, very close to shore,' recounted Jennifer. 'Right then and there, we knew we wanted to live in Huntington Beach.'

And so, in 1993, that's exactly what they did ' settling in the heart of the city, right between Central Park and the Bolsa Chica wetlands, and bumping the population by three more when they added sons Jake (11), Joey (8) and 6 year old, Jimmy to their clan. (Yes, everyone in the family has a 'J' name ' except the pets).

The family enjoys riding their bikes all over the city, often stopping at the picnic tables overlooking the spot where they first fell in love with Huntington Beach, to eat lunch and play. And, of course, look for dolphins.

On any given day, you might find the Leggs at the beach, Central Park, the Central Library or the Ocean View Little League ball fields ' or enjoying a meal at Super Mex and a movie at Bella Terra.
But their favorite spot in town might just be their own neighborhood. 'We wouldn't change where we live,' Jennifer says about their quiet neighborhood with lots of children. 'We have the best neighbors!'

John serves the community as a member of the Huntington Beach Fire Department and both are active in their church and with the Ocean View Little League. Love, respect, devotion and trust, discipline, and the ability to not take yourself too seriously are key ingredients to keeping this family a happy one. Mostly, they advocate just spending time together, and highly recommend a stroll down the Pier or time at Central Park or the wetlands to any families visiting Surf City.
And, if you're looking for the Legg family, they may very well be in their own backyard, enjoying another beautiful Huntington Beach sunset ' together.
