July in
Huntington Beach is the height of entertainment and
as good as it comes along the coast. With not one,
but two major beach events greeting tourists and
local HB residents in July, you'll discover a huge
4th of July Parade and U.S. Open of Surfing and
Beach Games both are held during the month.
Shown above
is the beach during the U.S. Open. There are a
handful of days during the year when the beaches
reach a near capacity crowd (parking is at a
premium), and the final week of the U.S. Open is one
of those times. In addition to being the finale
awarding just one surfer the winning title of the
event, the last four days of the U.S. Open includes
the beach games.
Beach games
are all displayed and played on the beach and
include sports such as skateboarding in a
temporarily-constructed skate bowl, and bmx bike
competitions with tricks and prizes for winning. In
addition to a whole lot of fun and games along the
oceanfront of Huntington Beach, you'll also get a
chance to wander through Surfers Village for free
give-aways, tents with video games, demos and other
fun. Families, kids, teens, tweens and oldsters all
love the beach vibe during July.
4th of July
includes not just a parade along Main Street, but if
you stick around for eight more hours, you can see
the fireworks display over the Huntington Beach Pier
and water. With several million people swarming to
Huntington Beach in July, it's a time to plan ahead
for your trip. Why? Bonfire pits are sometimes
staked out early in the day. Parking lots can fill
up by noon or 1 p.m. Hotels can sell out on special
events weekends. And our number one reason for
planning ahead--the entertainment is fun, and you
wouldn't want to be let down or have to miss out by
waiting too long. That's just the way things are in
July in Surf City! |
