Special City Council Meeting to Adopt Budget
Huntington Beach City Council is convening to look at the 2012-2013 budget proposal. Among the interesting items in the budget are reductions, and notation of possible additional reductions if Measure Z passes. That measure proposed by Mayor Don Hansen removes a special property tax from residents. A heavy duty “NO on Z” campaign has been put into action with bright signs all over the city urging voters to keep taxing themselves by voting against the measure.
If the measure wins, the city budget offers a scenario and plan for greater reductions, such as eliminating several jobs and consolidating some positions.
Other items in the city’s downloadable documents for the special meeting include an attachment from Richardson Gray requesting an investigation into potential conflict of interests between the Marketing & Visitors Bureau and a rumored proposal to convert Main Street Library into a visitors center and surfing museum.
