Beach Crowds Winding Down in Huntington Beach? Not So Fast!

With Labor Day Weekend approaching (Sept. 1-3, 2012) and parents already fitting their kids wardrobes for the upcoming school year, you’d think that the beaches would have mellowed. It turns out, however, that Bolsa Chica State Beach and Huntington State Beach have seen their highest attendance on Labor Day Weekend during some years. This year could be one of those events as predictions of the temps are for warmer than normal air throughout Southern California, including the beaches.

To extend the summer season for those who want to linger just a little longer, the Huntington Beach Downtown Business Improvement District (HBDBID) has put together a festive beach celebration now in its 2nd year. Called Surf City Days, the weekend festival has combined the city’s long-running annual surf contest with beach sports and games–volleyball and even sandcastle building to create a reason not to let summer end. We call this region the land of the Endless Summer, and there’s no need to let it fade.
