BURKE PARK IN HUNTINGTON BEACH CALIFORNIA INFORMATION AND PHOTOS

Burke Park next to the private Huntington Beach

Burke Park
Queens Park Lane and Netherway Drive
Huntington Beach, California  92646

This small park next to Sowers Middle School provides a close-to-street playground with sand pits and two Playworld Systems stations with slides and ladders. A swing set includes two baby swings and two regular swings. There's an open lawn for games adjacent to portable classrooms at award winning Sowers School. There's a long protection wall isolating Talbert Channel to prohibit access.  Talbert Channel is one of several concrete waterways named after one of Huntington Beach's founding families. The channel begins a few miles north of this location and heads south to the Pacific Ocean where it meets up with Huntington Channel just before the Santa Ana River at the border of Huntington Beach and Newport Beach.  Sowers Park and Sowers School are both bounded by Bushard, Magnolia, Adams and Atlanta. Parking is available curbside on Indianapolis Street where you should watch all young children exiting the car. Traffic along the street travels a little to fast for "runaway" kids.

Huntington Beach Parks List

The City of Huntington Beach (California) is the caretaker and steward of the Huntington Beach public park system. Two departments involved with Huntington Beach parks are the Community Services Department and Park Maintenance. Park Maintenance is responsible for maintaining approximately 67 parks and public facilities, totaling 598 acres, 169 playground apparatus and irrigation systems.

Park Maintenance is also an integral component in special events in the City, closely working with Community Services to set up for events and activities that take place on or near park facilities. Community Services not only handles the rental of the park facilities but also operates programs for the public that include softball leagues, exercise classes, cooking, dancing and other types of interesting and fun things to do. For more information on park maintenance call (714) 536-5480.  For information on park facilities or to make a reservation call Community Services at (714) 536-5486 or the phone numbers provided on the featured parks pages.
